September 2024

Sadly, we have discontinued our every Monday vegetable distribution for the fall season because the growing season in Mexico has ended. This is the first year we were able to continue vegetable distributions through the spring and summer months due to the efforts of our wonderful volunteers. We are already looking forward to starting distributions again in early November.

On Saturday, September 14, at our monthly Supplemental Food Distribution, we handed out 76 food bags of perishable and non-perishable foods. We also fulfilled a request for an emergency food bag.

This is the season when our volunteers consult with our community partners and plan for the upcoming November and December holidays. We will begin to distribute the frozen beef donated by South32 this month and into the future.

It is also the time when we welcome back our seasonal volunteers who are a great asset, relieving some of the burden of work that our stalwart year-round volunteers have shouldered since last spring.

We are still struggling with food price increases of the past few years, as well as an increase in clients in our service area. Thankfully the holiday season is when we receive the bulk of our donations from the community. We are also planning some fall and winter fundraisers so stay tuned for details of those.

We greatly appreciate your support of the Food Bank and look forward to another winter of community, sharing responsibility for providing for our citizens in need during the holiday season and into the new year.
