January 2025

January turned out to be our coldest and dryest month of this winter season so far.  We are very grateful that our warehouse and office building has heat so our volunteers can work in relative comfort.  It’s quite a bit different than the last two unheated/air-conditioned locations we occupied.

On January 11that our traditional monthly supplemental food distribution our volunteers distributed 97 food bags as well as 25 dozen eggs.  Accessing affordable eggs has become a problem (again) and we decided to discontinue distributing them until we have a steady, affordable supply.

We also contributed eight multi-pound beef roasts to the Patagonia Senior Center to bolster their menu for weekday lunches.  They offer hot low or no cost lunches five days a week at 100 Quiroga Lane, Patagonia, AZ.  In addition, we support them weekly with fresh vegetables from Borderlands Produce Rescue.

Our Monday veggie distributions outside the Senior Center in Patagonia (every Monday 10:30 to 11:30, look for our truck and tables) have been very popular and we this past month have enjoyed a nice variety of vegetables from our partner, Borderlands Produce Rescue.

We are expecting the coming months to bring renewed uncertainty about the availability, supply and cost of the food we supply to our community.  Rest assured we are diligently seeking out alternate sources of both food and funding.

Thank you so much for your support of the food bank which makes life a little easier for our volunteers and clients in need in eastern Santa Cruz County.
