March 2025
Dear Friends of the Food Bank,
On March 8th, at our traditional monthly supplemental food distribution on a very blustery cold day, our volunteers distributed 79 food bags. In addition, in March we provided clients with 4 emergency food boxes.
Our Monday veggie distributions outside the Senior Center in Patagonia (every Monday 10:30 to 11:30) look for our truck and tables) have been enjoying a good variety and quality fresh produce. Availability has again been variable, with lots of good produce one week and a nearly empty produce warehouse the next. Of course, we are at the mercy of the weather and other factors that effect availability, but we continue to be optimistic that our diligent volunteers will be able to bring what our community needs in fresh produce each week.
As we navigate these uncertain times, rest assured that we stand ready to support the food needs of the most vulnerable in our community. Our philosophy of relying on community support and 100% local funding insulates us somewhat from the ups and downs that other food banks, who rely on government funding, are dealing with.
Planning is complete for our April holiday distribution (April 12) that includes traditional food that will be the basis of a sumptuous holiday meal for our clients.
Thank you so much for your support of the food bank especially as we approach the spring holiday. Your ongoing thoughts and good wishes ensure we will continue to prosper during these uncertain times.
Jim
