June 2025
Dear Friends of the Food Bank,
On June 14th, at our monthly food distribution we provided our clients with 69 bags, which included frozen beef and tortillas. Demand was somewhat lower as often happens in summer when it’s hot and people are away. As always, our volunteers are ready to provide nutritious food for those experiencing food insecurity in east Santa Cruz County. This month volunteers also filled requests for emergency food bags.
Our Monday veggie distributions outside the Senior Center in Patagonia, every Monday 10:30 to 11:30, have continued into the hot weather with variability in quality and variety of vegetables. Our volunteers will continue to provide Monday veggies this summer as long as the supply holds out. This past week we had a good supply of veggies, including Watermelons, mixed melon chunks, carrots, mini cucumbers and butternut squash. Come visit us as you never know what we will be offering next Monday!
We were very excited and gratified to be able to help Patagonia Creative Arts Association this month with donations of food for their summertime children’s lunch program. This program, which brings together many individuals and organizations will be augmented in July by members of the Patagonia United Methodist Church who will take over providing bag lunches for children for the duration of the summer.
As we move into monsoon season, we want to constantly remind everyone that emergency food is available anytime by calling us (520) 302-4450.
Thank you so much for your support of the food bank and our wonderful community!
