October 2025 Recap
Dear Friends and supporters of the Food Bank,
It has been an unprecedented whirlwind month, and our volunteers are busier than ever before.
On October 11th, at our regular monthly food distribution we provided our clients with 80 food bags, which included milk, frozen hamburger meat and tortillas as well as our usual canned and dried storage stable foods.
In October we received a number of emergency food requests which we happily filled. It seems we are seeing more emergency food requests than in the past.
On Monday October 13th Our volunteer Tony Purifie, opened the 2025-2026 vegetable distribution season early with a produce distribution outside the Patagonia Senior Center featuring produce from Borderlands Produce Rescue in Nogales. Look for our sign posted outside the senior center. We distribute every Monday from 10:30 to 11:30.
We anticipate distributing frozen Thanksgiving turkeys, as usual, Saturday November 22, starting at 9:00am until they are gone.
Due to the situation with the federal government shutdown and its effect on SNAP benefits of our clients and others in the community, we are bulking up our food purchases in anticipation of a large increase in need. We have implemented a strategy that is flexible and easily adapted to sudden changes in need. Of course, we hope this is a short-lived crisis but, thanks to your overwhelming support, we are prepared to distribute shelf-stable food and fresh vegetables in large quantities to our community.
Thank you so much for your support of the food bank, we are humbled by your generosity.
Jim
