Dear Friends of the Food Bank,

The month of May saw a continued uptick in demand for food from our existing and new clients.

On May 9th, at our regular Saturday food distribution, we delivered 98 food bags, enhanced with varieties of food donated by our community partners. We also experienced a continuing increase in new clients, indicating the level of need within our community has increased as people’s budgets come under pressure from higher prices. In an attempt to better support our clients food budgets, we anticipate providing frozen beef as well as fish and other sources of protein in our food bags in the coming months.

There has been a steady number of people visiting our Monday vegetable distributions outside the Patagonia Senior Center. The supply and quality of vegetables from Borderlands Produce Rescue continues to be very good due to a better-than-expected harvest in Mexico. As usual, we want to remind everyone in the community to come and visit our weekly distribution and take home vegetables for their families. We anticipate continuing our vegetable distributions throughout the summer as long as the supply from Mexico holds up.

Thank you very much for your ongoing support of the food bank as we continue to assist our citizens during these difficult financial times.

Jim
