Dear Friends of the Food Bank,

The monsoons are upon us along with high outside temperatures, which is a mixed blessing. With consumer prices unstable, some months trending up and some down, our clients are still feeling the pinch caused by uncertainty in food costs.

We are still seeing high demand for food along with new clients appearing at every monthly distribution. On July 11th, at our regular Saturday food distribution, we delivered 99 food bags, enhanced with varieties of food sourced by our volunteers and donated by our community partners. We saw an increase in new clients, with 3 new families getting food. Our more robust food bag offerings designed to supplement families’ nutritional needs have proven to be a hit with our clients.

There continues to be a good number of people visiting our Monday vegetable distributions outside the Patagonia Senior Center. The supply and quality of vegetables from Borderlands Produce Rescue is variable as they have ended their “POW WOW” series of statewide vegetable distributions for the season, however our volunteers pick up whatever veggies are available each Monday and distribute them to our community.

We anticipate continuing our vegetable distributions throughout the summer as long as the supply holds up.
