March 2024

On March 9th, our volunteers delivered 89 supplemental food bags to our clients who came early on Saturday to the food bank.  This month’s food bags contained special foods that could be used to create a family-sized holiday meal.

To accompany our food bag distribution, on March 23 we distributed 126 frozen four-pound hams to complement our food distributed earlier to be enjoyed at the Easter Holiday.  As usual we also provided hams for the Patagonia Youth Enrichment Center, The Senior Citizens of Patagonia and the Vine Church, Sonoita.  We ordered 160 hams this spring, so we have some in storage for future distribution.

Our Monday veggie distribution produce quality and quantity has improved tremendously and we seem to be over the hump. Community response to our veggie distributions continues to be very good despite the waning of the winter and return of our seasonal residents to the north.  We anticipate distributing fresh vegetables for at least four more weeks, and possibly longer.

We received a grant from South32 Hermosa for the purchase of another commercial refrigerator as well as an automatic external defibrillator for installation in the Food Bank.  These are exactly the appliances we needed to round out our equipment.

April will be a busy month with multiple food re-supply trips in order to minimize the necessity for trips during the warm months of spring and summer.

We wish all our clients and supporters a most happy and joyous spring holiday season. As always, we so appreciate your support that remains so integral to achieving our mission
