April 2024

On Saturday April 13, our volunteers distributed 80 Supplemental Food Bags to our clients at the Food Bank.  This month’s bags included shelf stable milk, hot dogs, a dozen eggs as well as Villa’s tortillas in addition to our usual varied offerings. We are trying to re-use the cardboard boxes our deliveries come in each month.  This gives us two benefits, less cardboard to be recycled and a strong sturdy container for our clients’ food.

Our Emergency Food Bag deliveries hit a yearly high with requests coming in via phone and email from the community.

We have been including an imprinted BIC pen with each bag (pens were provided in a grant by 4Imprint company) in an effort to raise awareness of the Food Bank in the community.  We anticipate continuing to add pens for a few more months.

We took delivery of our new commercial refrigerator and automatic external defibrillator unit, both of which were installed in the Food Bank courtesy of a grant from the South32 Hermosa Community Fund.  Because of favorable prices on both units, we have money left over from the grant award that the grantor has generously allowed us to put towards a commercial freezer.

Our weekly Monday fresh vegetable distribution is going strong and we anticipate offering veggies outside the senior center Mondays from 10:30 to 11:30 until our supply diminishes.

One of our community partners is celebrating 10 years of service to the community. Join the Patagonia Youth Enrichment Center on Saturday, May 4th, from 2 to 5 p.m. at 113 S. 3rd Ave, Patagonia, AZ, for their anniversary party. Director Anna Coleman and the staff have done so much for the youth in our community over the years!

We are stocking up on food for the summer and our shelves are bulging!  It’s so rewarding to see a huge stockpile and know it is all going to people in need.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support of the Food Bank!
