July 2025

Dear Friends of the Food Bank,

On July 12th, at our regular monthly food distribution we provided our clients with 78 food bags, which included milk, canned meat and tortillas.   Demand for our services and food is steady this summer and we have received generous donations of food and fresh fruit for our August distribution.  In July we received a few emergency food requests which is consistent with prior months this year.

As of the end of July, we have discontinued our Monday Veggie Distribution outside the Patagonia Senior Citizen’s Center due to dwindling supply with the end of the harvest in Mexico.  During the 39-week season, which ran from last November until the end of July, our volunteers distributed more than 40,000 pounds of fresh vegetables to our community.  At this time of year vegetable harvests destined for the USA transition from Mexico, arriving through the Port of Nogales, to San Diego, California with produce grown in the Imperial Valley, Central Valley and Costal Valleys.

We anticipate starting the 2025-2026 veggie distribution season with fresh produce from Mexico, in early November 2025.

We always wish to remind everyone that emergency food is available from the Food Bank anytime by calling us at (520) 302-4450.

Thank you so much for your support of the food bank and our wonderful community!

Jim
