October 2026
Dear Friends of the Food Bank,
In mid-October the food bank was the recipient of beef from four steers donated by South32. This is the cornerstone of our monthly beef distribution and it supplies us for an entire year. This is the third year South32 has donated beef.
Lower prices on eggs means we are again including a dozen eggs in each food bag at our monthly food distribution. In addition, we distribute shelf-stable milk from time to time and ethnic foods like tortillas, masa flower, refried beans, soup bouillon and hot sauce.
On October 10th, at our regular monthly supplemental food distribution, our volunteers delivered 84 regular food bags, a slight decrease from our average monthly number, and welcomed 5 new clients. We also provided 3 emergency food bags to families in October.
Our weekly Monday vegetable distribution (outside the Senior Center in Patagonia) has been paused for most of October, however late in the month the supply of vegetables picked up. For the near future it appears we will again be distributing veggies each Monday at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Senior Center.
November will be a busy month at the food bank as we distribute holiday foods at our regular food distribution and then frozen Thanksgiving turkeys a week later. Watch for our signs at the post office!
Thank you for your steadfast support of the food bank, which allows us the privilege of serving those in need of food in our communities.
Jim
