September 2023

Dear friends,

Well, it took a bit longer than expected but our NEW WEBSITE is now online. It provides us with a way to more effectively communicate our mission to the community as well as receive support. Additional new ways to donate allow supporters to make a one-time donation or a reoccurring one, and they simplify tax paperwork.

At our September 9th Food Bag distribution, we experienced a continuing increase in demand however our volunteers were well prepared and delivered 95 Food Bags to our clients including tortillas and hot dogs. One glitch in the system this month was that our vendor was not able to supply eggs. We look forward to having ample eggs in the coming month as they have assured us of a continuing supply.

Our volunteers went to work and created 105 food bags for distribution in October.

We are planning for the upcoming holidays and it appears, despite stubbornly high food prices, we will be able to provide our clients with holiday food for their families. Stay tuned for details coming next month.

“If Music Be the Food of Love” – The Santa Cruz County Foundation for the Performing Arts is presenting a benefit concert for the Food Bank on Sunday, November 26th at 3:00 PM at the Benderly-Kendall Concert Hall, Patagonia, featuring Candy Amato, assistant principal violist for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, and colleagues from the University of Arizona and the TSO. Please join us for this wonderful musical event.

“There Will Be Dust”  – On November 18th, the Trail Riders of Southern Arizona will host the 11th Annual “There Will Be Dust” single-day dual sport motorcycle ride event. TRS will be raising funds to support the Food Bank in Patagonia. Their support over the years has been essential in helping us provide food for holiday meals.

Thank you very much for your support, kindness and generosity towards your fellow man and the food bank. We are all partners in building a vibrant community where no one goes hungry.
